A baby girl is joining our family!
We are having a baby girl this September. I am 20 weeks along, feeling bigger and more tired everyday! At least the sickness has mostly passed. The first 19 weeks was pretty rough, but we made it. I was kinda hoping for a girl so that Teslyn would have a little sister buddy, but once I found out it was a girl, I starting feeling a bit nervous. Teslyn can be super sweet, kind, helpful and adorable, but she also has a big bossy and naughty streak in her. Not sure how we will handle another one of those!
All along Owen had said he wanted a brother so that he could see a baby boy grow up, since he has a girl already. He also started saying that he wanted a boy, but had a feeling it would be a girl. When we found out it was a girl, I asked him if he was going to be alright having another little bossy lady around and he replied, "yes, I just wanted a baby." I thought it was the sweetest thing! He really is a tender and sweet boy, and has a soft spot for any baby he sees. He has already started rubbing and hugging my belly and talking baby talk to it. So Teslyn has picked up on it, which is cute. Hope she's ready to not be the baby anymore!
All in all, Nick and I are just so relieved and grateful that the baby is healthy and doing great so far. That's all really any parent can ask for. There is one minor concern, I have to go back in for some blood work to find out for sure. A couple years back when I had a miscarriage followed by a d&c with a couple blood transfusions, my blood must have had a small reaction and created antibodies. My doctor discovered that my blood has anti-s antibodies, which if the levels get too high, could cause my baby to be anemic. My doctor made this sound like a very rare antibody, and didn't go into a whole lot of explanation, so I came home and did some research. It could potentially be scary, but we will continue to hope and pray for the best. They will run titer tests on my blood to monitor the levels, if they get higher there could be concern. We wait to see!
